Well it's been a long month.

Long story short, step-father was diagnosed as corona positive and discharged today so I have to go into isolation for two weeks.

Yay.

This last month has seen him have a UTI, slight chest infection, kidney scarring, exploded stomach ulcer and a asymptomatic corona diagnosis.

Me, an infected leg (two infections actually), and post treatment rash and swollen foot.

Were now both on 14 day isolation because although he did have the virus, he may still be a carrier for a short while.

Depending on his mobility over the next two weeks I may have to leave work for 12 weeks to be his carer, but I still get full pay from work either way.

So that’s okay.

Ugh. Well, I hope that your isolation doesn’t result in you keeping normal hours and being away from Oppo as a result. I do hope that you are able to enjoy it as a forced vacation, caring for yourself. And hopefully your step- father won’t need your time, even though I’m sure you are prepared to give it.

If anything it probably means I’ll be ing around here more often, completely counter to what I had intended to a couple of months ago.

For the last three weeks it’s just been me, but I’ve got to care for him now he’s home and he can’t remember falling and hurting his leg which ended up with him reacting to his meds and getting hospitalised, so it’s going to be a very stressful couple of weeks.

‘few months’, it hasn’t even been a full calendar month.

He doesn’t r emember why he was in hospital, he’s shaky and I’m jumping every time I here a noise.

I’m going to have a beer I think.

Thanks. I can take two weeks isolation and be paid, 12 weeks carer time off and be paid or both if one changes into another.

Ye’, I just wish it was under better circumstances and a better environment.

Cheers mate. I’m okay, the foot swelling is going down, but the leg is hurting again.

Truth be told, I am a little nervous with him being back home for me to care for with my diminished lung capacity and body already trying to get over two other infections, but hey, if I croak, I’ll try and say goodbye to OPPO first. Lol.

Can we all have a bloody do over for 2020 please, it’s been shite so far.

Good luck. about 2.5 weeks ago I was diagnosed with “symptoms consistent with covid-19" but there were not enough test kits to go around so they just told me to quarantine unless symptoms worsened. Gonna be honest, it sucked. But it was nothing compared to what i’m hearing about in the hospitals. I’m just happy I didn’t have to go in.

Good luck through it all man, it’s no joke.

Edit: should probably include that I ’m all better now! Not showing any symptoms anymore!

Glad your feeling better mate. A colleague was told to self quarantine. Ge said he just kept popping paracetamol, but the amount he was taking he was told was fine as long as he kept hydrated and was drinking 5 litres a day. He’s kay now.

Though while my step-father was in, someone on the next bed died.

Unlike other countries, the U.K. is only reporting cases and deaths, not those recovered which is a shame.

Technically I’ll never be listed as a “recovered” because they didn’t test me, so i’m also not on the infected list. But giving I was winded from speaking just 2 sentences or so and it felt like i had a bowling ball on my chest, i’m pretty sure i had it.

yikes about the hospital scenario.

Yeah the UK recovered total is not high.

I was asked when I went into A&E (Accident & Emergency, your, ER) for my initial assessment the nurse asked if I was short of breath, etc... trying to assess if I had other issues, I replied, ‘yes, but that’s because I’m fat’. Lol.

When I went through to the doctor, or rather CHoC (Cumbria Health on Call), the doctor was feeling how my leg was and remarked how muscular my leg was, they have to be, there’s a lot of weight it has to carry.

I’m glad your over it.

I think the U.K. had a recovered of 135 the first few days then stopped updating it.

yeah i’m not exactly skinny but it was way over the top out of breath. It wasn’t like, “ man i’m winded from the stairs,” it was like “man, i’m winded from saying the phrase ‘ I’m winded.’ ”

Maybe that’s why I have crazy strong legs LOL
